CENECO Gentle Reminder: Always Check Properties for Arrears Before Buying!

Central Negros Electric Cooperative, Inc. (CENECO) reminds the public particularly those who are planning to purchase new property (such as House and Lot, Commercial Buildings, etc.) to always verify the property’s financial records – specifically for any unpaid electricity bill/s.

Despite being the new owners, you will still be held responsible for settling any arrears left by the previous owner pursuant to CENECO Board Resolution No. 11224, Series of 2015:

“Notice to the public that any transaction involving sale/purchase, lease, usufruct or any mode of conveyance or transfer of rights and possession of land/building within the franchise area of CENECO to always consider the account due and owing to CENECO of the present owner/occupant/possessor of the subject property which remained unsettled at the time of the subject transaction as CENECO will still consider as a liability said unpaid account and will refuse reconnection or restoration of electric power to the would be new owner/possessor unless the same account is fully paid. CENECO will accordingly issue clearance to those who wish to request the determination of the existing liability of a particular consumer pertinent to the present or future transaction.”

Please be guided accordingly.
